Short term

We’re happy to welcome people for a short visit and be part of our everyday life. This offers an opportunity to experience life in an eco project. The surrounding hills and valleys offer great hikes and we’re close to the coastal area with charming small towns Piran, Izola, Portorož. Croatian side of Istra is also full of attractions and calls for exploration on foot, by bike or by car.

Long term – Volunteering

Sunny Hill welcomes volunteers all year round. Volunteers are welcome for help with our daily tasks. Sometimes it is preparing wood for winter, planting vegetables in the garden or doing some construction work. Sometimes we offer a helping hand to our neighbours or other farmers in the area. We often organise workshops and at these occasions we need help in the kitchen and in the house. We tend to host max 4 volunteers at a time.

We eat mostly vegetarian food (milk and eggs included). Basic food is generally provided for, locally produced and when possible organic. We buy extras from the money that guests and volunteers contribute to the “magic jar”.

Acommodation

You can stay in a self contained unit, with private dry toilet, shower and small kitchen corner with fridge and electric stove.

Accommodation for volunteers and backpackers is in the main house where also community members live. We have one room with 6 bunk beds and one room with three beds. We use dry toilets, that we share with visitors. There is hot water in the showers, common kitchen where we prepare meals together and backyard garden with an outdoor kitchen.

As we recycle all the water from the kitchen and the bathroom we insist on using ecological cosmetics and detergents. There is wi-fi in the house.
